Misery Bay and Other Stories from Michigan's Upper Peninsula
Published in Paperback by North Star Press of St. Cloud, Inc. (May, 2002)
Author: Lauri Anderson
Average review score:

Misery Bay and Other Stories from Michigan's Upper Peninsula
"Lauri Anderson's latest collection of poignant stories is a wonderfully rewarding read. These stories are not only dedicated to the Copper Country, but truly celebrate the Finnish character that has played such an important part in creating a Copper Country heritage. Here are our heroes, survivors against all the odds, in this remote land, true to themselves acting with an unconscious humility. These often bittersweet stories are set in historic contexts that make them utterly convincing. There are many literary allusions, and even characters such as Vainamoinen and Hemingway play a part. The clean rhythm of the language mimics the Finnish language and underlines the basic humanity and individuality of these Copper Country Finns."

Moments of Meeting: Buber, Rogers, and the Potential for Public Dialogue (Suny Series in Communication Studies)
Published in Paperback by State Univ of New York Pr (April, 2002)
Authors: Kenneth N. Cissna and Rob Anderson
Average review score:

A slow read
Reading this book will require some time because of the transcription and content. Carl Rogers made significant changes after his contact with Martin Buber. If you have only listened to the tapes or read previous transcriptions and you need to read this book. I think reading this book provided some insight regarding both men. I have been interested in Buber's philosophy and Hassidic Judaism, and this book has been helpful. I highly recommend this book for the serious reader or student, but take the time to let the words sink in.

The Monkey Tree
Published in Hardcover by Dutton Books (November, 1998)
Author: Janet S. Anderson
Average review score:

"Great book for those who seek inspiration!"
Like Susanna, I am also a devoted teenage artist. The problems she experiences in the story are very different from everyday life, considering her so-called "crazy" uncle has been in his room for at least 20 years. I really enjoyed this book and the author did an excellent job portraying what Susanna was going through. Although your problems may be nowhere close to what Susanna is experiencing, it shows you what you need to do to find your true self and inspiration in life. When reading the book it seemed as though it was glued to my hands because I couldn't bring myself to put it aside. This book would be wonderful for any teen who is faced with difficult challenges. Especially those problems that seem unbearable; but after reading this book, you will realize that your issues can be solved.

Published in Hardcover by Chariot Victor Publishing (March, 1995)
Authors: Debby Anderson, Bartholomew, and L. B. Norton
Average review score:

Best illustrated Christian children's book I've seen
Unique, heart-warming, off-beat and full of fresh, unusual observations from a child's eye view. A special way of introducing a child to Jesus. My daughter loves it more than any other book. Very sad it's gone out of print, only wish they would reprint it as I want one for my goddaughter and indeed for other children.
